Week 14: Eagle Source

What Others See

As you remember from last week we started looking at Myth Two which states “Others view me the same way I view myself.” The lens through which people view you is directly related to their personality. This perspective is impacted by your behavior. Behavior is defined as how we respond to our genetics and our environment. The good news is that our behavior is our choice. The bad news is that if we don’t control our behavior, then our behavior will control us.

In considering the four personalities and how to interact with them, it is important to realize the significant difference between modifying your behavior just to please others and understanding how your personality affects those around you. It is important to modify our behavior for others, but our goal is to make a difference in the lives of those we love, live with, and lead.

Consider This:

The Camel views himself as someone dependable, logical, reliable, and prepared. The Monkey might view the Camel as boring, uptight, mean, and just plain anal.  And, of course, the Lion and Turtle have their own opinion of the Camel. The question for the Camel - for all of us - is, “How do I influence others, especially those who are different than me?”

Let’s take the opportunity to evaluate our behaviors and seek improvement. In this session’s Higher Flight, you’ll find a Behavior Exercise. It’s a slight twist on the questions you read last week at the end of week one.
